Earth
Earth is the densest, fifth largest and third closest planet to the sun in the solar system. It is the place of origin and home of all known living beings. Its diameter is more than 12,700 kilometres and its age is about 4.6 billion years. The term "Earth-like planets" was coined after their predominant geochemical composition. Since the Earth's surface consists of about two thirds water and therefore the Earth appears predominantly blue when viewed from space, it is also called the Blue Planet. It is also metaphorically referred to as "Spaceship Earth". As the basis of human life, the Earth plays a prominent role in all religions as a sacred entity; in many ethnic, folk and historical religions either as the deification of "Mother Earth" or personified as the Earth Goddess.
