Data disc/board of the planets of the solar system with removable bookmark (German)

With this table you get an overview of the most important physical data of the eight main planets of our solar system, which can be called up again and again. The data of the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune give an impression of the conditions in our cosmic neighbourhood compared to Earth.

Data:

  • Diameter in kilometers
  • Sun distance in millions of kilometres
  • 50 kg on earth correspond to here (gravity)
  • Temperature in degrees Celsius minmal und maximal
  • Orbit period around the sun in Earth days or years
  • Number of moons
  • Self-rotation in Earth days
  • Planet type
  • Special features

The sun is our home star. It gives us light and warmth, making it possible for us tolive. With a diameter of 1.4 million kilometres, the sun has 700 times more mass than all of the planets in its system. The surface of the sun has a temperature of 5,000-7,000 °C. Inside the sun, a nuclear fusion of hydrogen and helium is constantly taking place at 15 million °C.

Planets are large, pherical objects that circle around the sun.

Dwarf planets are small, spherical celestial bodies which orbit the sun, such as Pluto and Ceres. They have not cleared their orbits of other objects.

Moons are solid celestial bodies of different shapes that orbit planets and dwarf planets.

Asteroids are objects of varying size, shape and composition that circle around the sun. Most of them are found in the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Meteorits are celestial bodies of varying size. They penetrate the Earth's atmosphere, reach the surface and can make craters. A meteorite hit the south of Germany 15 million years ago, causing a crater with a diameter of 24 km now known as Nördlinger Ries. Another much larger meteorite probably killed off the dinosaurs 60 million years ago.

Comets look like stars with tails. They are usually a few kilometres across and consist of a mixture of rock, ice and dust. When a comet nears the sun, it's surface heats up, vaporising the frozen material straight into gas. This is what causes the familiar tail, which can be as long as several hundred million kilometres.

Meteors, also known as shooting stars, are smaller celestial bodies that burn up entirely as they enter the Earth's atmosphere.
